Kitchen accessories are a great way to really create a theme and it won’t really cost you a lot of money. It allows you to work with all of your existing appliances, oak cabinetry and countertops. In a lot of modern homes you’ll have high end wood cabinetry along with granite countertops. Of course you want to show off the beauty of these materials. After all, they might even be the reason that you bought the house. However, you still do want to bring in a little bit of your own personality and choosing a theme for your kitchen is a very easy way to do this.

One thing that you’re really going to want to consider is simply color. Oftentimes these designs have a lot of oranges and yellow in them. You might not be too wild about painting your walls such a bright color. In fact it can really overwhelm a smaller space so it really isn’t the best idea even if you do have a lot of room to work in.

A great way to combat this is to just go with yellow accents. Plus, this will be a little bit different than the other accessories that are out there. You could just bring in a vase of sunflowers to really brighten up your room. Another option would be to go with yellow plates or even yellow mixing bowls. You could display these on floating shelves. The floating shelves should have a distressed air to them. This may mean finding wood with a few knicks in it or doing it yourself to really give the pieces character. The shelf should also be very substantial just so that it doesn’t end up looking like a more modern shelf. This really allows you to take advantage of all the wall space that you have in your room and also decorate with very colorful accents.
